Do these five things right now
- Move what you can. Furniture, electronics, rugs, anything under the drip.
- Contain the water. Bucket underneath. If the ceiling is bulging, puncture a small hole at the lowest point of the bulge with a screwdriver and let it drain into the bucket. A controlled hole is far better than a ceiling collapse.
- Photograph everything. Ceiling, walls, floor, contents. Time-stamped phone photos are exactly what your insurance will ask for.
- Kill power to the area if water is anywhere near light fixtures, outlets, or the panel.
- Stay off the roof. Wet roofs are how people end up in the hospital. This is not the moment to go up with a tarp.

What happens when you call
A person answers. Not a call center reading from a script in another state, and not a voicemail box that gets checked on Monday.
We ask what you are seeing, where the water is coming in, and whether anyone is in danger. If the situation is genuinely urgent we get someone out to stop the water. That usually means emergency tarping, temporary sealing, or diverting water away from the entry point, whatever gets you safely through the night.
The permanent repair happens in daylight, when it can be done properly and safely. Anybody promising a full permanent repair at two in the morning in the rain is promising you something that cannot be done well.
What counts as an emergency
- Water actively entering the living space
- A ceiling that is sagging, bulging, or has already come down
- Roofing material torn off during a wind event, leaving decking exposed
- A tree or large limb on the roof
- Storm damage that has opened the roof to the weather
- An ice dam that has begun letting water into the house
What can wait for morning
If you have a stain on a ceiling but nothing is actively dripping, or you have found a few shingles in the yard but no water is coming in, you can safely call during business hours. We would rather tell you that than charge you for an after-hours visit you did not need.
While you wait for us
- Keep containers under active drips and empty them before they overflow
- Pull back carpet if water is reaching it
- Put fans on wet areas once power is confirmed safe
- Keep photographing as it develops, the progression matters to a claim
- Write down the time the leak started
- Note any weather conditions: wind, hail, heavy snow, rapid thaw

Most carriers have a 24-hour claims line and many will authorize emergency mitigation before an adjuster ever sees the property, because stopping the damage is in their interest too. Keep every receipt for anything you buy to contain the water.
